Unlucky on Friday Carl. Rob just fell over the line to win 6-4.

Updates from the league.....

Craig Lakin stays top after 2 recent 6-3 wins over Josh and Matt Finch. Joe Hood is second, 2 points behind with a game in hand, after 2 successive draws with Darren Finch and Kev McGuire respectively. John Giles is 3 points behind in third place but with 3 matches in hand over Craig and is still unbeaten. Huey Smith's 6-3 win over Jason Hill keeps him in fourth place with Rob Morgan in fifth.

Tom Lammin has been expelled from the league due to non-attendance and non-payment of fees. Fees paid by his opponents stay in the kitty and the prize fund has, unfortunately, been amended accordingly. Tom still owes his outstanding fees of £28 and is barred from future Corn Exchange tournaments until it is paid. Should this be paid it will be split between the winner and runner-up at the end of the season as compensation for the amended prize payout.

TBH mate id be looking at the next one being played to World rules. We ran this one to Blackball in the hope we'd get some of the Thursday night players interested but that interest obviously doesnt exist. Those who have played this season would all, maybe with the exception of Huey, have entered if it were World rules.

Also not sure on the night. Wednesdays are no longer viable for me. We could run it on Mondays at 7pm so that players still have time to go to their team league matches but not sure how popular that would be plus i dont think the Corn would give us all 8 tables at 7pm on Mondays due to their own teams needing practice tables.

I dont know what format you're doing but if someone turned up without their £2 then they dont play and their opponent gets a walk over.

You cant play it same night as another pool night. If not Wed then how about Tuesdays?

I already play on Tuesdays.

Sundays late afternoon would be a good one, around 4pm? That way players could have a good match over distance before 4-man.

As for the subs issue, yes you're right cos as always with these leagues we've been dicked about again by players who have the attitude "I'll pay double next week" and never do, or "Take it out of my winnings" etc....Not really on. I would rather just make it a fixed entry fee, say £30 each, and no subs. No £30 = No Entry?

The regular season will, unfortunately, be extended by one week as there are a couple of critical games to be played as follows:

Wednesday 2nd December: Huey Smith v Luke Colliver. A win for Luke, followed by a defeat by Kev McGuire to Dan Ussher, will qualify Luke for the play-offs. A win for Huey could see him finish 3rd, should Joe Hood lose to John Giles. Although Ravi Talwar cant qualify he could be the top seed in the plate if he beats Darren Finch and Luke loses. Josh Finch will avoid last place if he takes 2 frames off Huey in his final match.

The play-offs will take place on December 9th with the winner facing John Giles in the Grand Final on December 16th. All matches best of 11 frames.

The first 2 rounds of the plate event will be played on December 9th with the final on December 16th. Rounds 1 and 2 best of 7 frames, final best of 9's.

Please note that we need all outstanding subs paid up by next week for the prize fund, thanks.

Yeah but think Kev wants to play cos a walkover hands Kev a play-off place without him playing to qualify, which obviously would piss Luke off.

Craig Lakin is assured of second place after John Giles and Joe Hood drew 5-5 at the weekend. Craig will, most probably, play Kev McGuire with Joe facing Huey Smith in the play-offs.

A reminder to all players that we need outstanding subs in by this week. They can be left at the club with Kev.

PLAY-OFF FIXTURES - Wednesday 9th December - Corn Exchange
7pm Start - Best of 11 frames
Craig Lakin v Kev McGuire
Huey Smith v Joe Hood

The 2 winners then play each other

PLATE EVENT - Best of 7 frames
Ravi Talwar v Josh Finch
Rob Morgan v Jason Hill
Darren Finch v Carl Lynch
Luke Colliver v Matt Finch

The 4 winners then play each as follows:
Ravi or Josh v Rob or Jason
Darren or Carl v Luke or Matt

A reminder to players that all outstanding subs need to be paid up by this weekend. They can be left with Kev at the club. There is still a total of £102 outstanding. A full list of who has paid how much will be published here after this weekend.
