Personally id have to say the Monday league, with doubles played 1st and 6th, is the best format. Its gets 4 players involved from the start and means if the match goes to a decider it has to be singles. If the match hinges on a doubles frame that frame will take longer, in my opinion.
Last night we played our A team in a friendly and they chose the 1st and 7th frames. Seemed strange that not only do we have to wait for the home team (they won the flip of a coin to decide who was home) to write out the team card we now have to wait another 10 minutes while they decide which frames are for doubles and singles!
I can see problems arising all season with teams arguing over which frames should be for the doubles, as if there arent enough disagreements in this league as it is.
Of course if i were on the committee...............but let the powers that be show us that they can, maybe, possibly get it right one day perhaps.

Can anyone just confirm the format and how it is going to work this winter. This will be new to us so if anyone could just explain how they do it and how many players they have each week etc it would be greatly appreciated.

5 singles & 2 doubles, so you can have 5 players and play all 7 games as those who have played in the singles can also play in the doubles.
But if you have 9 players available they can all have a game, 5 in the singles & the other 4 in the doubles. |

What do the winners get in the Winter league? From memory the top 2 in each division get a cash prize and the play-off finalists likewise. That still the case?

Yes that is correct. John Aldus will communicate the prize structure at the next meeting.

Think thats how its been previously. So if you're in a division of 7 teams just finish slightly below halfway and you might get through
